FLUENT FORMS

My Fluent Forms are pieces of sculpture which speak to everyone in a different way, fluently telling a story that is created from the life of the tree and the interaction of the wood and the maker, working in harmony to create the narrative. It’s also a realisation of my own spirit, encompassing my writing, reading, music, meditation and life experience – or simply existing in the natural world, especially the world of trees.

The manner in which these pieces inhabit space changes, depending on the environment where they are displayed. Every person who interacts with them interprets them in their own, personal way, becoming part of the creative process themselves and part of the ongoing story. Through each piece it is possible to enter the consciousness of the maker and engage with the spirit or life-force of the tree.

Even after it has been cut and shaped, the wood continues to have a life as it dries, seasons and perhaps warps and cracks. This is the continuation of the narrative, constantly adapting, but with a fluency that is always there, speaking to anyone who will listen.
